Firing at Rawalpindi mosque kills 39
Rawalpindi, Dec 4: At least 39 people were killed and scores were injured when terrorists launched a brutal attack on a mosque during the Friday prayers in Rawalpindi.
Attackers armed with guns and grenades stormed the Jamia Masjid near Parade Lane in the garrison city on Friday, Dec 4 at around 2 pm (local time) and started firing indiscriminately.
The gunfire was followed by grenade explosions, say reports.
The 20-minute long firing has reportedly damaged the mosque too. Ambulances and security forces were rushed to the spot, and the area has been cordoned off.
The area where the attack took place is particularly significant amid the increased attacks on security personnel. as the mosque located near police offices and an army hospital.
It is frequented by senior police officials.
No group has claimed the attack yet.
