At least 39 killed, 45 injured in Rawalpindi mosque suicide attack
Rawalpindi, Dec.4 (ANI): At least 39 people were reportedly killed and 45 others injured in an attack in a suicide attack in a mosque in Rawalpindi on Friday.
According to reports, the brazen raid by at least three attackers came as people gathered for Friday prayers in the Parade Lanes mosque situated near the city's Chohar Chowk.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and all the wounded persons have been admitted to the CMH hospital.
An AFP report said that security forces had set up a secure perimeter around the site, with helicopters circling overhead and security forces preparing to enter the area to flush out any remaining militants.
Television reports said that there were more than a dozen blasts near the mosque, which was crowded with people offering Friday prayers. However, no official confirmation was available till the reports last filtered in.
Unconfirmed reports said gun battle between the security officials and some of the attackers were still going on. (ANI)
