Al Gore cancels Copenhagen climate change lecture
Copenhagen, Dec 4: Former US vice president and one of the most vocal and powerful climate campaigner, Al Gore has cancelled a lecture he was expected to deliver in Copenhagen, citing unforeseen changes in his schedule.
Al Gore was supposed to address a gathering of 3,000 people on Dec 16, at an event hosted by the Berlingske Tidende newspaper group.
While the group claims that the 2007 Nobel Prize winner cancelled his lecture due to his schedule, Mr Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said that the decision was made because of "all the events going on with the summit".
The United Nations Climate Change Conference for 2009 was scheduled to take place between Dec 7 and Dec 18. The Dec 16 lecture is particualrly important as it is the same day the ministerial segment starts.
