Hyderabad, Dec 3 (ANI): Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao has been shifted from the Khammam Government Hospital to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad here, following his daughter Kavita's appeal to the State Human Rights Commission.

K T Rama Rao, the son of Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS MLA had also asked for Rao to be shifted to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences claiming that there was a threat to Rao's life in Khammam as all doctors and officials belonged to the Andhra region.

On Sunday, the police had arrested Rao in Karimnagar town as he was planning to undertake a fast unto death.

A shutdown was called by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in the Telangana region on Monday following the arrest. Rao was moving to Siddipet to start a fast-unto-death for a separate Telangana.

Rao has been demanding the creation of a separate Telangana state for years.

Andhra Labour Minister R Venkata Reddy met K Chandrasekhar Rao in Khammam hospital and requested him to end his fast.

The TRS has decided upon sending a five-member delegation to New Delhi to brief the center about the situation in Telangana region, seeking support for a separate Telangana state. (ANI)
