State funeral given to ex-Rajasthan Governor S.K.Singh
New Delhi, Dec.2 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patel on Wednesday paid floral tribute to the late governor ofRajasthan state and former foreign secretary, Shailender Kumar Singh.
Singh passed away after a prolonged illness on Tuesday. He was 77.
He was cremated with full state honours on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife Manju Singh and two sons, Shashank and Kaniska.
Patil expressed grief at the passing away of Singh. Ashok Ghelot, chief of Rajasthan state also paid floral tributes to Singh.
The others who paid tribute were Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Gursharan Kaur, wife of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Rajasthan government has declared seven-days of state mourning from Tuesday as a mark of respect to the late governor.
Singh had also served as the governor of Arunachal Pradesh state from December 2004 to September 2007.
In February 1989, Singh was appointed foreign secretary of India. (ANI)
