CPI-M's Brinda Karat wants Google banned
New Delhi, Dec 2: Following a debate over advertisements of pre-natal sex determination tests available on Google despite the fact that they were banned in India, the Rajya Sabha heard a demand to impose a ban on Google apart from the arrest of chief of Google India.
"The chief of the Google India site should be arrested and prosecuted immediately and a ban should be put on the Google site," CPI-M's Brinda Karat said raising the the issue during Zero Hour on Wednesday, Dec 2.
Pointing out that the government had already issued a warning to Google in this regard, Karat said that the Internet search giant has again started putting sponsored advertisements about clinics doing pre-natal tests, which was in violation of the provisions of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act.
Karat questioned the Ministry of IT & Communication as to why no action was taken against Google for violating the act.
