Violent protests over price rise in Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 30 (ANI): A 12-hour Bengal shutdown called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in protest against hike in power tariff turned violent on Monday with supporters setting afire buses and clashing with police.
According to sources, three private vehicles were also damaged, following which police baton-charged the protesters.
In North 24 Parganas, roads have been blocked in the Kharda area, while the Gangasagar Express was also held up at Agarpara station.
In Howrah district, 12 city-bound buses were set ablaze.
Train services have also been disrupted at Howrah and Sealdah stations. (ANI)
