LG stops direct manufacture of PCs, outsources it
Seoul, Nov 30: LG Electronics Inc has stopped direct manufacture of personal computers (PC) and is completely outsourcing the production to local and Taiwanese companies.
Over the past few years, the South Korea's second-largest electronics manufacturer gradually advanced the outsourcing of personal computers in a bid to cut costs.
Company officials revealed that, LG's direct production of personal computers ceased in Sep 2009.
The company has also informed that a personal computer plant in Kunshan, China's Jaingsu Province, was turned into a vehicle navigation systems production unit.
