Horse cart race attracts many in Lucknow
Lucknow, Nov 30 (ANI): Scores of enthusiasts of the traditional 'Ekka Tonga Race' (horse cart race) had a gala time as they enjoyed the contest here on Sunday.
Organized by Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) as part of annual Lucknow festival, the race enthralled people who had came to watch it.
"I had fun watching the race. Participants practice for the race for years and the race that happens after such gruelling practice is good to watch," said Sunil Yadav, a spectator.
Lucknow is also described as city of 'Nawabs' and is famous for royal pursuits like delightful gourmets, arts and various other recreations.
"There are certain traditions that distinguish Lucknow and 'ekka tongo race' is one of such tradition. We want to revive our culture by organizing this race in Lucknow mahotsava (festival)," said Dinesh Sharma, mayor, Lucknow.
For hundreds of spectators, who cheered the participants, it was a fun-filled evening worth remembering throughout the year. (ANI)
