26/11 trail: Kazmi sacked for 'non-cooperation'
Mumbai, Nov 30: Abbas Kazmi, the defence lawyer representing the 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab, has been sacked from the case for 'non-cooperation'.
This comes after the defence lawyer stirred up a storm in the special court trying the 26/11 case when he told the court that he did not care about affidavits of witnesses filed by the prosecution on Nov 26.
Judge ML Tahaliyani who issued a notice against him for his 'irresponsible' statement, had asked him to answer why he should not be removed from the case for 'misconduct'.
However, Kazmi apologised to the judge and the court the following day after talking to Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Accepting his apology the Judge withdrew the notice and allowed him to continue as the defence lawyer on the case.
But the current development was an unexpected one and is bound to have an effect on the duration of the trial.
