Smita Thackeray to join Congress
Mumbai, Nov 28: Smita Thackeray, daughter-in-law of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray is breaking away from family politics and joining Congress, according to a statement by MPCC spokesman.
Citing ignorance on her exact date of joining, MPCC Spokesperson Hussain Dalwai said that Smita Thackeray is joining Congress as she has lost trust in Sena's leadership.
"The fact that Smita is on way to Congress shows that after Bal Thackeray there is no one in Sena whose leadership people trust," Dalwai said, adding that having her in the party is a big achievement for Congress.
Apart from being troubled by the Sena's vandalisms and parochial politics, Smita is reported to be annoyed at being marginalized in the family.
Smita Thackeray is a film producer and social worker. She is also the chairperson of Mukti foundation which has recently roped in actor John Abraham for 'I Pledge' HIV/AIDs campaign.
