25 nations vote against Iran's nuclear programme

Vienna, Nov 28: With Board of Governors Meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passing a resolution on Friday, Nov 27 on Iran nuclear issue, the United Nation's nuclear watchdog agency slammed Tehran for failing to resolve unanswered questions about its nuclear program.

The resolution that requires Tehran to mothball its new nuclear facility along with following UN Security Council resolutions and stop uranium enrichment, came after 25 nations including India, out of the IAEA's 35-nation decision-making board voted in Vienna.

The resolution against Iran by the IAEA, which is the first since Feb 2006, saw backing from six super powers the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, indicating a rare unity in policy against Iran.

However, Iran defiance was verbalised by the country's chief representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who said that Tehran his country would resist 'pressure, resolutions, sanction(s) and threat of military attack'.
