K'taka: Ancient goddess Cauvery's idol found

Madikeri, Nov 27: An ancient idol of goddess Cauvery was found near the Madikeri Fort in Karnataka's Kodagu district.

According to official sources, the half-buried idol was found amid bushes and plants when the tourism department took up construction of a garden in the fort premises.

The contractor, who unearthed the idol, decided to clean, polish and paint the idol and place it prominently in the garden.

JD(S) leader M C Nanaiah, has also agreed to release Rs 1 lakh for the development of the garden.
