New Delhi, Nov 22: Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily has opined that the Election Commission of India should be given more powers to check electoral malpractices.
Addressing a seminar on electoral reforms here Moily said, "Can we not make the system work, even after the election, pursue it? Is there one instance where such...are done, such malpractices are done and the Election Commission of India pursued the matter, investigate the matter and made any party or and candidate disqualify."
"I think this is how our election machinery should function. Whatever, support of the law you require, I am there to make the law and give it to you. You want the power, we will give the power," he added.
