Chavan vows action against attack on media
Mumbai, Nov 21: Assuring strict action against those behind the attack on IBN offices, the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chavan promised that he would seriously consider the demand of making attacks on media a non-bailable offence.
The Chief Minister spoke to a delegation led by by Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda and senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai who met Chavan at his official residence on Saturday, Nov 21.
"We are confident that there will be prompt action against those who engineered the attack," Darda said after the meeting.
On Friday, Nov 20, men claiming to be Shiv Sena activists stormed the IBN Lokmat office in Mumbai and roughed up journalists. The Marathi news channel in Pune also came under a similar attack.
