Retired Jamia Millia lecturer commits suicide
New Delhi, Nov 20: A retired man, who used to work as a teacher at the prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia University, reportedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire on Thursday, Nov 19.
"Iqram Ahmed allegedly poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire after which his family members called the PCR. He was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 percent burn injuries and he succumbed to his injuries later in the day," a police officer said.
In the suicide note recovered by the police, the 75-year-old writes that the reason behind his suicide was the everyday disputes at home.
"He was not satisfied with the behaviour of his family members and it was the reason behind his extreme step," the officer added.
Iqram Ahmed, who was a physics lecturer in the training institute of Jamia Millia Islamia University, retired about eight years ago.
