Delhi gets heaviest rainfall since 1988
New Delhi, Nov 17: Receiving 7.6 mm of rainfall in about 40 minutes on Monday, Nov 16 night, Delhi recorded the heaviest rainfall in 11 years.
The Nov 16 rains were the highest the nation's capital got in a day in any month since 1998, an official at the Safdarjung meteorological department said.
"The capital got 14.4 mm of rainfall in 1998," he added.
Due to the strong winds from the southwest of India, Delhi has so far received 10.4 mm of rainfall in Nov 2009.
"The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to drop in the coming days. Skies will remain cloudy and there is a possibility of fog on Wednesday (Nov 18) morning," the official said.
