States should work to achieve power for all: Shinde
New Delhi, Nov. 15 (ANI): Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Sunday asked all the states to expedite efforts to achieve the goal of power for all.
Addressing the power ministers of all states and union territories during a daylong conference in national capital, Shinde called upon all the states to work towards capacity addition.
"Today's meeting is one of the efforts to call all the state ministers and administrators to enquire into the details and request them to work hard for capacity addition, that is the main reason," Shinde said.
The states were advised to procure equipment expeditiously for plants that were due to go on stream by July 31, 2009.
Out of a capacity addition of 78,700 MW targeted for the 11th Five Year Plan (2007-2012), the Union Power Ministry estimates that about 62,000 MW would be achieved and another 12,000 MW capacity could be added with redoubled efforts. (ANI)
