Koda tries everything to evade IT interrogations

New Delhi, Nov 14: After stalling the Income Tax department interrogations for at least a week by getting admitted in the hospital, former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Madhu Koda who is embroiled in the middle of disproportionate assets scam continues to try everything to evade interrogations in the ongoing probe.

As per media reports Madhu Koda has told the Enforcement Directorate (ED) the Income Tax (IT) department in two separate letters that he would not be available for questioning till the completion of the Jharkhand assembly elections which are scheduled to begin on Nov 25.

He was expected to appear before the ED on Nov 15.

On Friday, Nov 13, Koda who is facing charges of money laundering and illegally amassing assets in India and abroad left for Patahatu village to meet his ailing mother after receiving permission from the ED.

He even told reporters that he was being 'harassed' because he is a 'tribal belonging to a poor family'.

"There is a threat to my life. There is a conspiracy to annihilate me. I know who are doing all this. Whatever is published in the media is baseless. And, I am being harassed as I am a tribal belonging to a poor family," he said.
