India to deploy 15,000 troops in Arunachal

New Delhi, Nov 12: While reports of China's military build up at the International border has become a major concern, it has been reported that India too is planning to deploy 15,000 troops in Arunachal Pradesh.

It has also been said that concerns about security in Arunachal Pradesh intensified after the Manmohan-Jiabao meeting in Oct, 2009.

Although the government is tight lipped about the entire procedure, media reports said that Indian Army has forwarded Request For Information (RFI) for acquiring 300 lightweight tanks for deployment in the Northeastern states and in Jammu & Kashmir.

RFI also included a request for high intensity light tanks, anti-tank guided missiles, anti-aircraft machine guns which should be protection against nuclear, chemical and biological warfare .

The second division of troops in Arunachal Pradesh will be deployed in the 12 to 18 months.
