All IIM-B students bag offers in campus placements

Bangalore, Nov 12: In a trend that signals beginning of better days for campus placements, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) reports that all the students of the 2010 were placed within a span of five days.

“The entire batch of 348 students, the biggest ever batch at IIM-B, was placed within a span of five days by over 150 companies, with as many 180 slot zero offers being made, the highest across all IIMs," Prof PD Jose, Chairperson of the Placement Committee announced on Wednesday, Nov 11.

Bagging over 180 offers, 50 per cent of the IIM-B students were placed by the end of slot zero or the first two days of placement offers.

The students were recruited by big names such as Goldman Sachs, Citi, HSBC, ABG, Nomura, Bain & Co, Standard Chartered, A T Kearney, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Co, Credit Suisse, Macquarie, Merril Lynch, Morgan Stanley, J P Morgan and Barclay's Capital.

21 per cent of the recruiters were from Sales and Marketing leading to more number of FMCG companies coming in for recruitment.

This was followed by investment banking accounting for 19 pc of the recruitment.

Finance accounted for 16 pc, consulting accounted for 15 pc, general management accounted for 12 pc, IT 9 pc and private equity accounted for 3 pc of the total recruitment.

This comes as a welcome development after the IIM students across the country struggled to get placed not so long ago as the companies had frozen recruitment due to the global economic slump.
