After MNS, Shiv Sena attacks Abu Azmi
Mumbai, Nov 10: A day after being roughed up by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) MLAs, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, Abu Asim Azmi came under an attack from Bal Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.
Shiv Sena men on Tuesday, Nov 10 gheraoed Azmi outside Vidhan Bhavan entrance warning him against making any anti-Bal Thackeray statements.
The SP leaders had earlier told reporters, "Thackeray has got old and is speaking like child."
Responding to this, Sena MLA Eknath Shinde said, "Azmi will not be allowed to roam around if he dare say anything against Bala saheb."
This came the same day Bal Thackeray wrote an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna holding Azmi responsible for bedlam in the Maharashtra Assembly on Monday, Nov 9.
Blaming Azmi for hurting the Marathi pride by taking oath in Hindi, Thackeray wrote that if Sena men has laid their hands on him would have made 'tandoori' out of him.
He, however, condemned the MNS MLAs' violent behaviour, saying that nobody can back the pandemonium created by the MNS members in the assembly.
"The proceedings of the assembly or parliament must be carried out as per rules and decorum, it cannot be reduced to an 'akhada' (wrestling pit) or a vegetable market," Sena supremo wrote.
