Indicted Sudan Prez cancels Turkey trip: Report

Ankara, Nov 9: Despite Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's decision on Nov 8 to allow former President Omar al-Beshir to attend Istanbul summit it has been reported that al-Beshir has pulled out of the summit following an appeal by European Union to bar former President from attending the summit.

Al-Beshir is facing international arrest warrant for orchestrating a campaign of rape, murder, torture and forced expulsion against the African residents in Darfur.

On Nov 8, Erdogan has said that the al-Beshir would be permitted to attend Istanbul summit, adding that it would not hesitate to challenge al-Beshir if he is proven guilty.

Erdogan had also said that it is difficult to accept that a person of Muslim faith could indulge in genocide.

The arrest warrant issued by International Crime Court was criticized by China and several African and Arab countries.
