New Delhi, Nov.9 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested seven people for smuggling wildlife products to neighbouring countries.
According to CBI spokesman the animal parts were recovered from a train at central Nagpur.
"The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested seven people from Nagpur and Delhi and has exposed the illegal trade of bones and skins and other body parts of cheetah and leopard. These things were to be sent to other countries illegally through traditional routes. The CBI team conducted a raid in the general bogey of Yashwantpur Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express near Nagpur railway station and recovered skins of two cheetah, 38 kg of bones, teeth and other body parts," said Harsh Bal, CBI spokesman.
Bal said all the seven would remain in CBI custody till Friday and they were being questioned to get details of poaching in different parts of the country.
Wildlife experts say tiger and leopard parts are in great demand in China and other Asian countries. They are wanted for their skins, which are worn during festivals, as well as for their bones and body parts which are used in traditional medicines.(ANI)
