Maoists getting weapons from China: Home Secy

New Delhi, Nov 8: The senior most bureaucrat in charge of internal security of the country has claimed that Maoists are getting arms from China.

Home Secretary G K Pillai, said, "Chinese are big smugglers--suppliers of small arms. I am sure that the Maoists also get them."

However, Pillai did not elaborate whether the Maoists were getting arms from Chinese arms smugglers or official agencies.

Earlier, Home Minister P Chidambaram in an interview in Sep 2009, had said there is no evidence of China supporting the banned rebel group.
