US base shooter in coma, shifted to army hospital
Houston, Nov 7: The man behind the Nov 6 shootout at the Texas military base which left 13 dead and over 30 injured, is reportedly in coma and has been shifted from a civilian to an army hospital for security reasons.
Army psychiatrist, Major Nidal Malik Hasan was shot at four times by a lady officer on Friday, Nov 6 after he went on a rampage at the Fort Hood base. While several people who were injured in the shooting are still battling for their lives, Hasan is critical yet stable and is on a ventilator.
"The military officer suspected in the shooting deaths of 13 people here was transferred from a civilian to a military hospital in part for security reasons," a military official has been quoted as saying in media reports.
Since the authorities never got a chance to question him, they are still unable to pin point the motive behind the violence. Investigators have seized his home computer and searched his apartment in Killeen, Texas and even looked at his garbage to learn anything that they can about the suspect.
Investigators came under more pressure after learning that some of Hasan's wounds are very serious and he may not make it through the coma to answer their questions.
