Eight children drowned in Kerala boat accident

Malappuaram (Nov 5 (ANI): At least eight students died when the boat in which they were sailing capsized in Malappuaram district of Kerala on Wednesday.

According to sources, all the victims were the students of S S Higher Secondary School at Moorkanad. They were crossing the river to return home at Areakode. The deceased included one-girl and seven boys.

A massive search operation was launched after initial reports of the accident.

The accident occurred barely a moth after state's worst tragedy on September 30, when a double-decker boat with tourists capsized in Thekkady Lake, claiming 45 lives. (ANI)
