Melbourne, Nov 4: Thirty-six-year-old Amrit Goyal, an Indian engineering student became the latest victim of racial abuse in Australia when two men and a woman hurled verbal abuses at him and physically assaulted him on Tuesday, Nov 4.

Goyal who is studying automotive engineering in the Australian Industrial System Institute was attacked in Laverton area, media reports quote Amit Meghnani, President of Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA) as saying.

"I was standing outside my home when two men and one woman approached me. They were shouting abuses at me. I asked them to calm down but they punched me in my left eye," Goyal told a news channel.

“I called the police but they came after an hour and a half. They said they were busy, and would come when they have the time. They have recorded my statement and will ask detectives to probe," he said, adding that attackers asked him to go back to India.

This comes about a week after a group of locals attacked a Sikh and removed his turban while he was sleeping in a bus stop.
