Srinagar, Nov 3: Finding its cave infiltrated and colonised by Hizbul Mujahideen militants, a mountain bear mauled two of them to death before falling to the bullets of other two militants who managed to escape.
"It attacked the armed militants and killed them on the spot," Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Col JS Brar said on Tuesday, Nov 3.
The incident is believed to have taken place on Sunday, Nov 1 in Shopian located in southern region of Kashmir. An Army patrol party found the bodies of the militants and the bear only on Monday, Nov 2 morning.
After frisking through their cloths, the security personnel found that they were Hizbul commandars. Medical examination revealed that they were killed by a bear.
Two were identified as Kaisar Ahmad and Saifullah, both residents of Kashmir, Brar added.
