Chief Mentor Tarun Das retires from CII
New Delhi, Nov 3: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) announced the retirement of its Chief Mentor and former Director General, Tarun Das on Tuesday, Nov 3.
Mr Das who worked as the Director General of CII between 1974 and 2004 spearheaded CII's success. CII shot up from a small engineering association to the apex industry organization of India during Das' tenure.
He later took over as Chief Mentor in 2004.
"Under Tarun's leadership, CII has been instrumental in managing and initiating changes that shaped the socio-economic environment of the country over several decades", Venu Srinivasan, President, CII said.
On his retirement Mr Das said, "The organization has the requisite internal strength to move ahead also on strategic issues and given the unique profile it has from the strong industry membership, I have no doubt that CII would continue to be the single most important point of reference for the Industry."
70-year-old visionary leader would be now spending most of time on International Relationship building and matters related to domestic development.
