Pak army kills 9 Taliban militants, loses 2 soldiers in Waziristan offensive
Lahore, Nov. 2 (ANI): Pakistani security forces killed nine terrorists and arrested two others, while two soldiers also lost their lives on Sunday in Waziristan, where an offensive against the Taliban is going on, Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence Agency (ISPR) has said.
During 16 days of fighting, the militants' death toll has reached 331, while 38 soldiers have died, reports said.
According to ISPR, the security forces surrounded Sararogha region from three directions and completed sanitisation of Zariwam and consolidated their positions around Point-1435, Point-1342, Point-1389 and Point-1290.
While on Shakai-Kanigurram axis, search and clearance operation is 50 percent complete, it added.
According to The Nation, terrorists attacked the security forces check post near Asman Manza with rockets and small arms and injured one soldier. The forces retaliated and killed four terrorists, the ISPR said.
At Patok Narai, security forces killed five terrorists, while during exchange of fire, two soldiers were killed and one was injured.
The forces also arrested one terrorist from Karwan Narai, the ISPR said.
Meanwhile, relief activities for displaced families of Waziristan are continuing in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to ISPR, 7,203 cash cards have been distributed amongst the displaced families and an army field hospital has been stablished at Ratta Kulachi stadium at D I Khan, where 50 patients have been treated. (ANI)
