Why was Raja silent on NDA's hand in scam?: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 31: Responding to the Telecom Minister, A Raja allegation that the Bharatiya Party (BJP)-led NDA government was involved in the alleged 2G spectrum allocation scam, BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi questioned why Raja, who has been the minister for five years now under the UPA government, remained silent so far.

"I say where was Mr. Raja up till now? There have been now five years of their own rule. He was the minister; he could have said it earlier. Because now he is under dock therefore they are coming with all these things," Joshi said.

On Friday, Oct 30, telecom minister alleged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had not only distributed free spectrum to operators depriving the exchequer of over Rs 1,60,000 crore revenue but also violated norms by giving the frequency in excess of 4.4 MHz to many operators.

Ever since the CBI raided the Department of Telecom offices, the BJP has been demanding the Raja should be removed from the post. However, Raja refused to step down.
