Indian charged for aiding Hezbollah in US
Washington, Oct 28: Two men, including an Indian citizen ,Patrick Nayyar, 46, were charged in New York on Tuesday, Oct 27 with attempting to provide weapons to Lebanese Hezbollah organisation, a US banned terrorist group.
It has also came to light that Patrick Nayyar was illegal migrant in Queensland when he and Conrad Mulholand were arrested by the federal prosecutors for agreeing to supply guns, ammunition, vehicles, bulletproof vest and night vision goggles to an FBI Undercover agent.
Taking him to be a member of the banned outfit, the duo had agreed to supply pistols, a pick-up truck and a box of ammunition to the FBI agent in a series of meeting held from Jul to Sep 2009.
Patrick has been arrested on Sep 24 for possession of arms by an Illegal migrant, while Conrad is said to be at large.
The effort of the investigating team won praises from Preet Bharara, the Indian attorney of Southern District of New York.
