Malapuram site for footwear park: KINFRA

Malapuram, Oct 26: After the International Apparel Park in Trivandrum, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) is all set to launch a footwear park at Vazhakad, in Malapuram district of Kerala.

The 120 acre park which will begin on acquisition of land will have footwear and manufacturing facilities including a cloth based allied industrial unit operating from the park. At the same time it will convert the area into an International hub.

The footwear park is viewed as a source of boosting up the economic condition of the 200 footwear units as well provide direct and indirect employment to 3,250 and 6,500 people respectively in the state through the production of high quality footwear by adopting new technology.

The main highlight of the Rs.17.50 crore park will be a non-leather footwear, footwear component manufacturer, leather footwear, safety footwear and sportsman footwear.

KINFRA is also setting up a textile center at Nandukani in Kerala's Kannur district.
