Telecom Fraud: UPA faces heat from BJP
New Delhi, Oct 26: Terming the alleged irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation as the 'largest scam in independent India', the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday, Oct 26 demanded that the Telecom Minister, A Raja should be sacked.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Arun Jaitley said, "In terms of monetary value, it is the largest scam in independent India. It is a monumental scam. It cannot be a subject of controversy. It is a mathematical calculation."
He also said that Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh should not have intervened in the matter while the investigations were on.
Dr Singh on Sunday, Oct 25, asserted that the allegations about the scam were incorrect. But he did not answer a question about the opposition parties' demand that the minister from DMK should resign.
Jaitley went on building an argument on how the fraud was formulated and how the UPA government is now 'covering up' the fraud done by the minister
