Rly drivers strike, Mumbai train services affected

Mumbai, Oct 26: A flash strike by the railway drivers in Mumbai has severely affected the train services in the city.

Media reports suggest the trains came to a grinding halt a few hours ago as the striking motormen refused to work overtime leading to a long queue of trains at many stations.

The Central and habour line trains are currently running 30 to 55 minutes late due to the delay caused by the agitating motormen.

The drivers are protesting against long working hours, and heavy workload. They are demanding that the vacancies are filled up quickly.

Apart from this, the motormen are alleging delay in rescue work and are demanding a probe into the Friday, Oct 23 accident where a pipeline collapsed on a train killing two people including the driver of the train.

Mumbai local train services which are considered as the lifeline of the nation's financial capital is the prime means of transportation for millions of people.
