ASEAN Summit: India-China hope to ease tension

Cha-am hua hin(Thailand), Oct 24: Amid the heightened tension between the two countries, the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Chinese premier, Wen Jiabao met on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit on Saturday, OCt 24 to discuss and improve bilateral ties.

Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao met in a Thai beach resort to sort out regional and international issues of mutual concern.

While Wen Jiabao said that his country looked forward to having 'healthy and steady relationship with India', Dr Singh congratulated Wen on 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

The conciliatory meet comes against the backdrop of the tension between the two Asian giants over the ownership of Arunachal Pradesh.
