5-phase Jharkhand Assembly polls from Nov 27
New Delhi, Oct 24: The Election Commission has announced that the Jharkhand Assembly Elections which will be held in five phases will commence from Nov 27.
The voting will end by Dec 18 and the votes will be counted on Dec 23, Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla informed.
With the announcement of the election to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly made on Friday, Oct 23, the model code of conduct also comes into effect.
The previous assembly was dissolved on Thursday, Oct 22.
The state has been under President's rule since Jan 19, 2009 after the then Chief Minister, Shibhu Soren lost a by-election and was forced to resign.
