Chavan to be re elected as Maharashtra CM: Report
New Delhi, Oct 23: Quoting sources, CNN-IBN reports that Ashok Chavan is going to be re elected as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and that an official announcement is expected to be made sometime in the afternoon on Saturday, Oct 24.
After the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly Polls results were declared on Thursday, Oct 22, it was widely believed that the ruling Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which secured a majority of 144 seats in the 288-member assembly would fight over the Chief Minister's post.
However, Chavan was always the frontrunner for the post who took over the seat from Vilasrao Deshmukh after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. Chavan was also elected from the Bhokar Assembly seats by over 1 lakh votes.
