Kashmiri cricketer terms his detention unfortunate
Bangalore, Oct 22 (ANI): Kasmiri cricketer Parvez Rasool, who was allegedly detained for questioning after residue of explosives were found in his bag, said here on Thursday that his questioning was unfortunate.
On October 17, Rasool, along with his teammate Mehraj-u-din, were detained by the Bangalore Police after a residue of explosive material was allegedly found in their bags.
The J and K team was in the city to play the C K Nayadu Trophy cricket tournament.
"I would only term it as an unfortunate incident; it is all god's wish," said Rasool.
He expressed happiness over getting support from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and from the people back home.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team's coach, Abdul Kareem is upset over the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials who asked the team to vacate the premises without informing proper reasons.
"Nobody from the Karnataka State Cricket Association had come to the police station to support us," Kareem said.
The J and K team was seen practicing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium with black bands on their t-shirts, as part of their protest against the allegations on the cricketers.
Rasool is now concentrating on the game and hopes that he will be cleared of all charges soon. (ANI)
