Traditional pastimes ousted as UK's favourite party activities by games consoles

London, October 21 (ANI): The age-old games like musical chairs and pass the parcel are no longer Britain's favourite party activities, as game consoles in recent times have lured children, a survey has revealed.

The YouGov poll, commissioned by frozen food firm Birds Eye, found that the Nintendo Wii and DS, and the Sony Playstation, have occupied their place in the top four activities at children's parties.

Out of the 4,000 adults who were questioned, 67 percent said pass the parcel was one of their favourite party games when they were children, while 61 percent were fond of musical chairs, reports The Daily Star.

However, now 31 percent of parents of children aged four to 12 think pass the parcel is their child's favourite game, while a mere 19 percent said that their kids loved musical chairs.

It was further found that 41 and 31 percent of children now opt to play Wii and Nintendo DS respectively.

The study was conducted to mark the relaunch of Birds Eye's 80s staple Supermousse. (ANI)
