Mathura train collision: Mamata orders probe
New Delhi, Oct 20: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, Oct 21, ordered a probe into the train collision in Mathura that killed at least 13 people.
Mamata Banerjee also announced a compensation of Rs 5,00,000 for the families of the deceased.
"I have ordered to set up a high level committee to inquire about the incident. The committee will look into the matter and give me reports. The railways will also give Rs.5 lakh compensation to the families of those deceased," Banerjee said.
The collision took place around 5.30 am, when Goa Express crashed into Mewar Express in Mathura.
At least 13 people have been killed and over a dozen injured, about 50 people are believed to be still trapped.
