Special team to trace engineer abducted in Assam
Hyderabad, Oct 20 (ANI): A special police team has been constituted to trace, P Krishna Rao, an engineer abducted by suspected insurgents in Assam.
State Chief Minister K Rosaiah said he spoke to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi expressing concern on the safety of P Krishna Rao.
"I have spoken to Mr Gogoi yesterday. He assured me that he will set up a special team to trace Krishna Rao...I think they are doing it," Rosaiah told reporters here on Monday.
Rao was kidnapped by suspected militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) from a road construction site in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Friday.
Rao works as a project manager with a Hyderabad-based construction company.
The NDFB is among more than two dozen armed groups in northeast which are either fighting for an independent homeland or more political autonomy.
They accuse New Delhi of plundering the region's mineral and forest resources, neglecting the local economy and giving them back nothing in return. (ANI)
