Rajnath Singh's plane flouts air safety norms
New Delhi, Oct 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, Rajnath Singh allegedly forced the pilots of his plane to take off from Jharkhand without mandatory runway lights on Monday, Oct 19 night.
According to media reports, the plane took off from Dumka airport in Jharkhand in complete darkness, violating the air safety norms. The pilots were reportedly forced to take off from the airstrip with vehicle headlights lighting the runway.
While pilots allege that they were under VIP pressure, BJP sources argue against this saying that the pilot's decision was not a decision taken under pressure from the party president, reports Times Now.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to start an inquiry into the incident.
