Maoists raid WB police station, abduct officer

Midnapore, Oct 20: Just days after a Jharkhand inspector, Francis Induwar was killed by Maoists, there are reports that armed Maoists abducted an officer-in-charge after a daring attack on a police station near Lalgarh in West Midnapore district in broad daylight on Tuesday, Oct 20.

The extremists who launched an attack on the police station also injured an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) along with looting arms and ammunition.

According to reports, a group of 25 armed Maoists on motorcycles raided the Sankrail police station and abducted officer-in-charge Atin Dutta and shot at ASI Sukhendu Mansata.

In the recent times the extremists have launched many such daring attacks in the wake of government's offensive against them. Earlier this month, Maoists abducted and beheaded a Jharkhand inspector apart from killing 17 other police officers which came as a wake up call to the country.
