Residents blame mobile tower for health hazards in Kota
Kota (Rajasthan), Oct. 19 (ANI): A cell phone tower installed atop a house has become a health hazard for residents of a railway housing society in Kota.
Many elderly people staying in this colony have complained that they are suffering from a number of diseases because of radiation.
"A tower has been installed at the backyard of my house. Because of this my father suffered from brain tumour one and half years back and after treatment for one and half years he recovered. But since August he again fell ill. Doctor has advised to keep him away from tower. That's why he is not coming home for the last one month," said Ashok Lakha.
Residents have complained to authorities and demanded that the tower be relocated but nothing has been done so far.
"This should be relocated. Keeping in mind health of elderly, the tower has been erected in an unfair manner and it should be relocated, " said Pyare Lal Sharma, a resident.
However, the owner of the house on whose rooftop the tower has been erected claimed that people no one is suffering from any illness in his house and health concerns of other residents are not genuine.
"This society is not for elderly but for fools. Everyone thinks he is far more intelligent than others. There is no one ill in the house of the person on which the tower has been erected. In reality these people are jealous," said SC Mittal, a resident.
According to some recent studies, cell phone towers are the dominating source of electromagnetic radiation in environment and could lead to diseases in plants and animals. (ANI)
