Right-wing Hindu group blamed for Goa explosion

Pananji, Oct 17: After a series of mysteries murders sparked off the fear of a serial killer on the prowl, Goa now has to deal with a different kind of threat after a scooter carrying explosives went off on Friday, Oct 16 putting the state on a red alert.

In the incident that took place near the Grace Church in Margao town, 35 km from Panaji, two men were on the scooter which carried the explosives. When the explosives went off one person died and the other was critically injured, say reports.

State Home Minister Ravi Naik has blamed the right-wing Hindu group for the incident. Naik said that the vehicle belonged to the Nishad Bakhale, an alleged member of the Sanatan Saunstha, a right-wing Hindu group.

Following this allegation, Bakhale has been detained for questioning. Apart from this, the police have also searched the headquarters of the group in the temple town of Ramnathi in the Ponda region.

Malgondi Patil and Yogesh Naik, who were on the scooter, were part of the group, say police. While Patil who sustained serious injuries succumbed few hours after the blast. However, Naik is still alive battling for his life in the Goa Medical College.
