India, Pakistan border security officials meet at Wagah

Wagah, Oct. 14 (ANI): A team of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers participated in a DIG-level meeting at the Wagah joint check post on the Pakistan side on Wednesday.

Mohammad Akil, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Border Security Force led the 11-member Indian team, while Brigadier Shifakat Ali Khan-headed the Pakistan Rangers' team at the meeting.

According to Akil, the meeting was part of a mutually agreed programme aimed at evaluating measures for managing border duties.

During the meeting, the Indian delegation raised the issue of recent lobbying of rockets into Indian territory from across the border.

The Pakistani team denied their hand in the incident.

The Indian authorities, however, registered their protest with Pakistan and told the Pakistani authorities to take adequate steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

Issues relating to inadvertent border crossing, smuggling of contraband items, simultaneous co-ordinated patrolling along the International Border were also discussed at the meeting.

The issue of Indian and Pakistani prisoners was also discussed. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
