Maoists open fire in Gadchiroli on polling day
Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), Oct 13 (ANI): Maoists reportedly opened fire in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on the day of polling on Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident took place near Kasansur in Aheri block.
However, security forces did not return the fire as part of a strategy since Maoists were not visible, they said.
Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful poll in naxal infected Gadchiroli.
Over 1.29 lakh state police and central paramilitary forces have been pressed into service.
On October 20, nearly 200 naxals ambushed a police outpost near Lahir village of Bhamragadh tehsil in Gadchiroli brutally killing between 17 to 20 policemen, including a sub inspector. (ANI)
