Centre to give 1,000 cr for AP flood: PM
Hyderabad, Oct 9: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh termed the unprecedented floods in Andhra Pradesh as a national calamity and announced an immediate advance of Rs 1,000 crore for relief and rehabilitation works in the state.
Singh, who would also visit Karnataka on Saturday, Oct 10 denied Centre's discrimination in tackling the flood situation.
The PM, who was on an aerial survey of the affected areas in Kurnool, Krishna, Mehboobnagar and other districts said the Centre is ready to assist the state in every possible way.
"The Central government stands behind the state government in meeting the grave challenge of the unprecedented tragedy that has befallen the five districts. Money will not a constraint," he said.
